Product Details
* A .28 PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVER, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'COLT ROOT'S MODEL 2', serial no. 24235,
circa 1855, with nickel-plated octagonal 3 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat completely devoid of address details (alignment marks present), solid frame with blued screws, side-hammer, plain cylinder devoid of engraving, smooth walnut one-piece grip and colour-hardened under-barrel rammer, the whole retaining much nickel-plated finish, appearing original (areas on barrel and cylinder frosted)
Other Notes: Whilst the obvious answer to the lack of makers details would be refinishing, this pistol does not appear to have had the finish renewed. Another possibility is that it was a 'lunchbox gun', i.e. a pistol assembled by an enterprising employee and smuggled out of Colt's factory.
